August in 1:1 Snaps

We’re back, back to the usual, back to work, to homemade breakfasts, to the same desk and the same laptop, and August’s already come to an end. I can’t really believe how fast time runs when you’re having a well-deserved vacation, even more than the rest of the year, which is flying by so quickly anyway! We’ve had so much fun in August and are so glad we actually decided to treat ourselves to a holiday after so long: even though I kind of had a hard time to admit every human needs to stop and relax sometimes, it felt such a blessing at some point to be able to just stop thinking about big plans and goals, work and all that stressful stuff, for a few weeks and just enjoy the sea, sand, sun and the freedom we had at our fingertips.

So here is my monthly happy list…

1 :: Having a good amount of time by the beach felt such a blessing after not seeing the sea for years. I’ve mentioned it before, but living there even for only a few weeks made the world of good to my body and mind and now I feel so positive about everything!

2 :: Even gloomy days have been a pleasure there, the perfect occasion for exploring a new place and wandering around the local market picking up fresh local fruit and cute souvenirs. Those are the small things that will stay with me for a while when thinking back at the whole holiday!

3 :: Late night takeaway pizza. After a long day during which we took advantage of every last second of sun on the beach, we went on the hunt for a takeaway pizza place, which, as it turned out, wasn’t the easiest of the tasks. But, even if my pick wasn’t the best of the choices, it was a lovely night anyway!

4 :: Getting back into the routine isn’t always the happiest thing, but I’m quite glad I was finally able to please my need to get back to work as soon as possible. Having a routine always make me feel organized and like everything is in its right place. Am I the only one?!

5 :: Cinema night. I seem to mention this one quite often in these posts, but we had a lovely homemade pizza + cinema night just a couple of days ago and I always enjoy it so much. Plans called for popcorn too, but we were so full after all the pizza that we decided to skip those. We watched The Imitation Game, which was a nice one indeed!

What’s on your happy list this month? x

Gloomy Day

Whilst the first two weeks of our staying in Lignano were super hot and sunny, so much that all we were able to think of was the pleasure to immerse our bodies in the sea, the last week saw a couple of scary thunderstorms and gloomy days, which didn’t stop us, though, from visiting and exploring. Most of those days have been spent wandering through the cutest little shops and boutiques looking for souvenirs, eating our weight in ice cream (it didn’t actually only happen on those days!) and observing street artists during their fascinating working hours.

I can’t really complain about those gloomy days! Walking on wet sand is my favourite thing in the world, and even if a bit desolated maybe, the beach still looked lovely after the rain, especially when the sea waves calmed down a bit after the storm and the sky started turning pink and violet and then blue again. On one of those days, after a long walk under the clouds, it started raining as never before, and the only consolation was we were able to quickly find our way to the most delicious shelter of all: Mu Gelateria, the place we’ve visited the most after the beach during the whole holiday, is the cutest DIY gelateria of dreams, with its white and blue theme and all their delicious ice cream flavours. The MU Cream was my favourite one, a thick sweet cream with a delicate hint of lemon… mmm!

Sand & Sea Salt

As much as I like country living and big cities, and as much as I’d prefer visiting a big capital as a vacation of choice, sometimes the seaside just calls my name so loudly. I didn’t even ever thought I’d enjoyed getting back to a classical relaxing kind of holiday that much. But these past three weeks have flew by, and have been literally all I and my mind needed. A bit of freedom from all the work and thoughts and tasks. I have had quite a tough time at some points, to accept I should have needed to take some time away from my laptop, my emails, my websites, and just enjoy the sea life as it came by, but once accepted it felt so right!

Living by the sea even just for less then a month made me change my lifestyle drastically. I immediately started craving only fresh, juicy fruits and vegetable everytime it was time to eat (excluding all the ice cream, but that one is kind of mandatory on a holiday, isn’t it?), the time we spent walking quadrupled as soon as we arrived there, my hair started looking always so on point (seasalt is just the haircare holy grail), and my skin started looking more alive in less than a week of healthy exposure to the sun (I even discovered freckles, which I wasn’t ever lucky enough to see on myself, appeared on my face and shoulders around the start of the third week!). I kind of felt a completely different person in a different healthier body, and I wish I could feel that way all year round! But it’s not the same when the weather starts getting chilly and the sea is hundres of miles away from you, am I right?!

Anyway we had such a lovely time and we’ve just got back but I already miss all of that, the beach, the sand, the seasalt, all that freedom and lightheartedness. Watch this space for more pictures and a video coming super soon! x
