How to: Bake a Perfect Salmon Fillet

How to bake the perfect salmon

It’s not often that I share a fish recipe on here, but if there’s one dish I truly love is salmon filet (with roasted potatoes, please!), and while experimenting with its cooking methods and marinades, I’ve come to the conclusion that salmon filet is best in the simplest of forms. All it needs is something that enhance its flavour, not cover or change, and my favourite way is to bake it in aluminium foil making sure it’s buttery soft but super tasty.

This recipe is very basic, but it’s truly the best way I like to bake my salmon, and if you like simple, natural flavours, I can’t suggest you enough to give it a try!

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Serving Size: 2 Serves

Perfect Salmon Filet

  • 200g Salmon fillet
  • 1/2 lemon
  • Salt + Pepper to taste
  • A drizzle of olive oil
  • Parsley to top

1 :: To prep your fillet, make sure all the bones has been removed completely, if not carefully remove them and wash your fillet afterwards.

2 :: Place an aluminium foil into a ceramic baking tray and arrange your salmon fillet in there. Wash the lemon and cut two thin slices out of it, then place them of top of the fish.

3 :: Add pepper and salt to taste, then squeeze the rest of the lemon juice on top. Lastly top with a drizzle of olive oil. Wrap and close the foil around it.

4 :: Bake in the oven for 20/25 minutes at 180°C, then check it out and maybe open up the foil a tiny bit and leave it to bake a few minutes more.

5 :: Remove from the oven and serve with roasted potatoes and lemon juice or freshly chopped parsley to top.
