How I Use Pinterest in My Creative Business

As many of you would know, I’ve been running a blog design shop since almost a couple of years, and as I’ve announced a couple of times already, I’m planning and working to expand it and make it look more professional and integrate more of my skills in my work apart from web designing. I don’t even remember when it all started (it has been months that I’m working at the re-launch), but I do remember how I decided to switch things up this time and start with a project in mind everytime I started something new.

The first time I launched my design shop, let’s be honest, I didn’t really know what I was doing. It was an experiment, and even though I wanted it to look put-together and to build a few products before launching it, today I’d say I wasn’t organized at all! But it was right, because it was my first time doing it and if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have come to this point and have learnt how to work from home, build a routine, create something from scratch and make it into a final product ready to be sold to others.

Since online businesses are everyday more frequent these days, I thought I’d share some behind the scenes of my work a little bit more often, starting from the creative tools and resources I use, which can totally work for any other creative business of any kind. And the biggest, most essential source of inspiration these days to me is good old Pinterest….

Lemon + Yogurt Pancakes

Lemon + Yogurt Pancakes

If you asked me what I thought of lemon desserts only a few months ago, you’d have seen me stick up my nose. But then, as soon as Spring began this year, probably due to the way too many nice-looking lemon loaf recipes I’ve spotted on Pinterest, I started craving all things lemon. Lemon cakes. Lemon loafs. Lemon shortbread. Lemon glaze. And then it came the time for lemon pancakes too.

I don’t really remember how this recipe took form, probably it was just an experiment which turned out pretty amazingly delicious? Who knows! I’ve this recipe written down on a old post-it which has seen many bags of flour and sugar coming and going, but I guess it’s just a slightly edited version of my usual basic pancake recipe – adding something, removing something else in between. But as a result you’ll get the chewiest, softest and sweetest pancakes with a lovely hint of lemon that makes things a little bit more interesting than usual. Hope you like them as much as I do!

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Serving Size: 1 or 2 Serves

Lemon + Yogurt Pancakes

Ingredients

  • 70g plain white flour
  • 2 tbsp raw brown sugar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 170ml milk
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1 :: In a deep bowl mix the flour, sugar and baking powder together using a spoon. In another small bowl mix the wet ingredients together until well incorporated: milk, juice of 1/2 lemon, yogurt, vanilla extract and honey.

2 :: Add the wet ingredients to the flour and sugar mixture a small bit at a time, mixing well with a spoon in the meanwhile. Add more milk if the batter looks too thick or another tablespoon of flour if it looks too runny. You should obtain a soft pancake batter that will stay together when in the pan (not something like crepe batter instead!).

3 :: Use a whisk to make sure your batter doesn't have lumps.

4 :: Heat up a large non-stick frying pan for a couple of minutes, but, as long as you use a non-stick pan, avoid oil (or if you need some, try something like coconut oil instead of something else). Place around 3-4 tablespoons of batter in the pan for every pancake. When bubbles start appearing on the top, turn it upside down and cook on the other side for another bunch of seconds.

5 :: Repeat with the rest of the batter. You should obtain around four medium size pancakes with these doses.

6 :: Pile your pancakes onto a cute plate and top with maple syrup or blueberries (which make it just the best thing in the world!). Enjoy!

Dainty

Dainty

I’ve been introduced to Happiness Boutique not long ago, but immediately felt passionate about their pretty online store and their philosophy. Everything about the brand spreads happiness and opening one of their jewelry boxes is just such a joy! Not only they sell beautiful statement (but also dainty) pieces to spice up your outfits in the most colourful and fun of ways, but they also took it as a purpose and brand philosophy to bring happiness to the face of their clients with their products.

I have got the beautiful Key to Happiness Necklace* in rose gold, as, as most of you might already know, I’m one for simpler, dainty, small jewelry or nothing at all, surely not someone that has ever incorporated a statement necklace in her outfits ever in all her lifetime (I wish I was!). Yet, there’s something so dainty and precious about my pick that makes me very happy about the choice. I feel totally comfortable wearing it and love the small hint of light from the little heart as well as the game of layers that makes everything more interesting.

There’s something so lovely with how they put together the little necklace box that made me smile. Maybe it was about the ‘Gradma’s tips on jewelry care’ label inside, or just their playful and colourful logo everywhere, but everything about the brand looks a little special.

I can’t wait to get my mitts on more of their pieces: they’ve these gorgeous Dazzling Full Circle Necklaces that are just calling my name so loudly!
