4 Steps Guide :: Pampering Shower

4 Steps to the Pampering Shower

Although I’m coming to love bath time more and more recently (thanks Lush for making me rediscover my bathtub!), I’ve always been a shower kind of gal: no matter how hard I try, I rarely can just lay there and relax, take time for myself without doing anything at all. It just feels a waist of time to me, and I know I shouldn’t think of it that way, but I just can’t stay there with nothing to do – am I the only one?!

Whether you feel the same way or you just don’t own a bathtub, I think we shouldn’t still give up on a bit of pampering time for ourselves. I like it to be nice and easy and especially quick, but it doesn’t mean my skin doesn’t love a bit of care, or that showers can’t allow you to have some time for yourself and switch off! Actually there are so many products I like to use in the shower instead of in the bathtub, scrubs for example always feel better in the shower to me!

After many years of searching and trying I feel like I’ve mastered the “Pampering Shower” routine like a pro now: in fact I have a four step guide for you today, including my all time favourite pampering products that make relaxing and caring for your skin fun and quick! Ready?

The 7 Minutes Facial

Most of the face masks out there require 15 or 20 minutes of your time and although I sometimes like it, most times I want my home facial to be quicker, so when I look into buying new face masks I always go for the 5mins ones. They’re great because they are usually lighter and perfect also to reinvigorate your skin in the morning if you have a dull-complexion day, like the Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask, that acts in only 5 minutes and aims to lighten and tighten the skin with Vitamin C and powerful antioxidants: it creates a nice tingling foam when applied and also has a very uplifting orange smell which is always a plus! Also the Lavera 3 in 1 Wash Scrub Mask is a quick one acting in only 3 to 5 minutes and especially great for those who have oily skin or acne.

I usually like to top it off with a quick and easy face oil massage treatment: I especially love the Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil for its delicate rose scent. I massage it into my dry skin for a couple of minutes (that’s actually the most relaxing part!) to rehydrate it and just give it some love (and if you don’t know how to massage your face just check this out!). Then I rinse it off with a cloth and warm water and I’m ready for jumping into the shower.

The Scalp Massage

Weird one, right? However scalp scrubs seem to be great to keep scalp oiliness at bay while also helping with stimulating hair growth – totally worth a try to me!

The Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub is a paraben, silicone and colorant free sea salt based scalp scrub with a lovely fresh scent. It feels very strange in consistency because is not as thick as body scrubs and it’s packed up with a little bit of oils that’s not what I’d usually put on my oily hair. However it feels nice to massage onto the scalp: it gradually melts on wet hair and creates a nice lather very easy to rinse out.

Although it’s meant to regulate scalp oiliness it still leaves my hair feeling nicely hydrated so it would probably be a good one for dry hair too, if used instead of a shampoo a couple of times per month!

Aromatherapy

Yes, you won’t be able to use bath oils or lovely-scented bath bombs in the shower, however you can still treat yourself to some nice aromatherapy without any fancy products, just picking up scents that relax you for shampoos and shower gels.

I’m a fan of lavender scents and I love how it also helps with setting me in bedtime mood in no time at all. The Garnier Lavender & Rose Shampoo is one of my favourite paraben-free shampoo picks, with its delicate and fresh lavender scent and being great to treat oily hair while also leaving it soft and silky.

As for shower gels the list is endless, but in this period of the year I’m completely in love with Lush Yummy Mummy Shower Cream, packed up with cocoa butter, orange and geranium oils. It just has the most relaxing scent ever!

For the body

As I said, I love my scrubs in the shower. Especially thick sugar based scrubs like all the & Other Stories body scrubs. I usually scrub my skin only once a week so when I do I like my scrubs to be thick and effective while also leaving my skin soft and without redness.

I am not the biggest fan of body butters after a shower because I usually like to jump straight into my clothes and hate having sticky legs and arms during the process. Luckily someone invented in-shower body conditioners! I really love Lush Ro’s Argan under this category, but I’m generally a fan of all of them if they allow me to quickly hydrate my skin without even stepping out of the shower and without leaving my skin sticky or oily.

I’m lazy that much!

That’s basically it, my pampering shower routine in 4 steps. I’m usually left feeling regenerated and completely relaxed – showers have nothing to envy to bathtubs indeed!
Are you a bath or shower kind of girl? x

Office-Ready Comfy Outfit

Working from Home Comfy Outfit

I’ve been wanting to do more style posts recently, but truth is I’ve been living in comfy outfits all the time, being busy working all day every day. I work from home and sometimes the temptation of working from your bed in your PJs is very high and compelling I’ll admit, but I’m telling you something: you are going to regret the decision as soon as you have someone (maybe the postman?) waiting for you at the door and you look everything besides decent!

Especially when having your bed and your workspace one metre close, it’s easy to forget where work ends and a YouTube marathon begins. I find getting out of bed in the morning and having a proper getting-ready routine even if you are not going anywhere, totally helps with telling your body and mind to wake up and get ready to be productive. Whilst with PJs, they are so very tempting indeed but will most likely lead to procrastination – my worst enemy!

With my working-from-home outfits I don’t really want to cut comfort out of the game at all, so all my picks really look similar to a combination of comfy soft jeans or nice leggings, a cute but comfortable top and a cozy warming long carding to top it off.

I’ve just recently picked up a couple of these Forever21 Textured Open-Front Cardigans after realizing I didn’t have any long cardigans at all after my wardrobe spring cleaning… and I’m in love! Not only for office/work purposes: they’re very soft and flattering and look great to top off any outfit and stay warm at the same time.

As for jeans, I’m a fan of the softest denim only but it’s not easy for me to find anything especially flattering and comfortable at the same time; I’ve already picked up a new pair of the H&M Superstretch trousers after wearing my old one until they broke: they aren’t really long lasting, but I’m OK with picking up a new pair every 6 months or so just because they look very good with my body figure and are the most comfortable thing ever as well!

I don’t really wear makeup when I’m at home just because I like to feel my skin breathing as much as I can, and to be honest there’s nothing worst to me than spending hours in front of my laptop with mascara on! But my Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom is always next to me on my desk as it’s great for hydration throughout the day but also add a touch of color to my otherwise very pale complexion!

Combine them all and you’ll get my daily office/work uniform!

Let’s Catch Up!

letscatchup

It has been a very long while since the last time I sat here typing down a little life update for this blog! Or that I asked you what you’ve been up to lately. Apparently I’m not good with consistency when it comes to monthly blog series, so this year I decided I won’t keep trying with no results and instead try to catch up with you every once in a while! I’ll go first!

Basically I feel like my life is my work and my work is my life lately. I’m spending so much time, energies, passion and love in my web design business that I’m impressed I can still manage to switch off when my scheduled working hours finish, as it just feel like I’m actually never really resting. I’m not complaining though, I really love my work and I’m so excited it’s become a reality and it’s going down pretty well! I am illustrating all the time, creating awesome logos, phone cases, ideas, blog designs, and having the chance of meeting inspiring people, creatives, bloggers and freelancers. That’s the very best part! Plus if you’re a freelancer you’ll understand the lovely feeling of being booked up months in advance, especially when you’re at the very beginning of your career!

On the life front things have been very nice lately, 2016 is being such a good one to me until now, with so many good news and seeing our life goals finally closer to us! I really wish it keeps going in this direction! I don’t really want to give anything away just yet as everything still feels so fragile and as if it would break in any minute, but I’m really at peace with life lately and it didn’t happen in a long while (and no, I’m not pregnant just yet 😉 )!

A few posts I’ve enjoyed lately: Sarah’s roundup of pretty Cafes for Writing in Bath, Rosie’s Cheese Scones Recipe, Jillian’s Pregnancy Announcement!

What’s new with you lately? Let’s catch up in the comments! x
