In April I've Loved...

In April I've Loved...

I’m typing this post a week in advance, so I feel legitimated to write about the “oh how time flies” cliché! It’s probably because my weeks are so hectic and full of work and stuff, that I feel like time is going by too fast (while the things I tick off the to-do list aren’t really…) or because Spring makes me very excited about plans and future, that I went into my blog archive to link posts and I felt it was yesterday I wrote a post that went live on February… and now it’s almost May… or that we book our travel in Rome and we’re heading off in a couple of days already!

But enough time-related rambles! Here are a few things I’ve loved during the month of April…

In April I've Loved...

The Green Balm – MOA

Beauty

I’ve been a cleansing balms lover for a very long time, but it was about a couple of years I haven’t bought any! I don’t remember how I found out about MOA – probably while I was stalking social medias as I remember me being all “oohh” and “aahh” when I discovered their website and placing an order 2 seconds later from my phone! And I bought a cleansing balm, yes!

Their Green Balm in the Daily Cleansing Ritual duo, to be precise! As all their products, their Green Balm is vegan and 100% natural; it features great oils for the skin like almond and coconut oil, promises to remove all the makeup without the help of any other products and it’s suitable for all skin types (although I avoid to apply it on my oily forehead)! I love that it’s thick and hydrating and the bamboo face cloth is special! Soft and such a pleasure to use!

Samphia Blouse – Poppy Lux ; Lily Pad Ballet Flats – ASOS

Style

With the excuse we were going to fly off to Rome this month, and the fact that my wardrobe felt a little bit naked after my latest Spring cleaning session, and also yes, the fact that ASOS was having their mid-season sales going on, I thought April was the perfect month to implement some new Spring staples into my wardrobe!

As soon as I spotted the Poppy Lux Samphia Blouse in the ASOS sales I knew I had to have it (if it sells out, check back in a few days – someone might return some, but I won’t!): the vintage pattern is perfect for springtime and brings a pop of colour into my monochrome wardrobe, while the pleated collar is the cutest thing – it reminds me of this petal collar blouse I can’t wait to wear this summer! I already know I’ll wear it on skirts and jeans and trousers all Spring long!

I’ve also dusted off my ASOS Lily Pad Nude Ballet Flats that I’ve been wearing non-stop this month as they pairs with literally everything and always make any outfit nice and put together with zero effort!

BAKAREN Phone Holder – IKEA ; Relaxing Pillow Mist – L’Occitane

Home

I’ve popped into IKEA (again!) this month and ended up buying some more stuff for the desk (a pretty vintage-y vase for fresh flowers included!), but I’ve fallen in love with their BAKAREN Phone Holder and thought it would look pretty perfect on my desk. I wasn’t wrong! I love it… It has a cable hole and everything, you know!

And, since I have had some difficulties with falling asleep lately, I’ve also been loving the L’occitane Relaxing Pillow Mist and to spray it all around the room a bit more than necessary, if I have to be completely honest! I love the sweet and herbal scent of lavender, bergamot and geranium paired with orange and mandarin – it’s lovely and calming and relaxing. If you are after a pillow/room mist, do yourself a favour and check this out!

Sleep Inducing

Sleep Inducing

I have written about what I like to keep on my bedside table and my bedtime rituals not long ago, but since then, and since I’ve been having some difficulties falling asleep at night lately, things have changed a tiny bit in my routine. I’ve added some new products that seem to work wonders at inducing sleep and since then I’ve been performing a very strict routine right before bedtime.

I’ve said goodbye to late night work, even if it means I have to catch up on it the day after (which is not that tragic after all) and, although I’m still not able to drastically eliminate the social media browsing right before bed, I surely have forced myself to reduce the time I spend on my phone or watching TV right before falling asleep. I have found writing down a to-do list for the day after is a good thing to do in the evening, so I don’t have to worry about keeping my mind busy to remember all the things that have to be done when I go to sleep, in fact I’ll have them all at my desk ready to be ticked off the day after.

Other than that, here are a few products I’ve been loving recently – all of them very “sleep inducing”, so hopefully they might help anyone else suffering with insomnia too!

Sleep Inducing
Aromatherapy

I’ve never really given the pillow mist thing a go myself. I’ve heard wonders about it but I’ve never been one who finds extremely difficult to fall asleep, so I never felt the urgent need of investing into one until recently. It’s probably because I have so many things going on in my mind and I always feel like I have so much stuff to do in so little time, that I can’t properly relax whenever I pop into bed.

I’ve picked up the L’occitane Relaxing Pillow Mist and don’t really know if it’s only a psychological thing, but spraying it in the room and on my bed linen at night instantaneously put me in a more relaxed, chilled out mood. The scent, with lavender, bergamot, mandarin, orange and geranium, is nice and subtle but definitely calming and soothing. They also have tiny Perfumed Sachets with the same scent you can put on your bedside table!

Ever since I bought and tried the Lush Love Lettuce Fresh Mask for the first time, I was sure it was one that’d have been pretty special in the evening with that lovely lavender scent. I wasn’t wrong! I’ve been loving to apply it a couple of times per week in the evening: it’s a nice and quick treatment (it only requires 5 to 10 minutes) but it’s a refreshing a calming ritual. My skin always feels extra soft right after, and the French lavender essential oil makes it appropriate for a nighttime application!

It’s no surprise I’m all about my nighttime tea, however, thanks to the lovely people at Teagime, I’ve only recently discovered Red Clover is extremely useful against sleeping disorders. I’ve been drinking a blend of Vanilla, Red Clover, Honeybush and Milk Thistle at night that it’s working wonders (more on it soon!), but I’m also very curious to try out this Pukka Night Time Herbal Tea in the future!

Try These :: Spring Weekend

Try These: Spring Weekend

I can not express my love for Spring weekends at words! There’s nothing more lovely to finally have a sunny weekend day all for yourself after spending the whole week looking forward to it, and enjoying the hours of beautiful light outside doing things that involve nature, soil, fresh flowers, tidying, and all those things that make Spring a refreshing and renewing season!

I don’t really think there’s anyone who doesn’t love Spring as a season anyway, but if you happen to lack on Spring weekend activities ideas for any reasons, I have a nice little list for you to try and get creative outside & inside!

Grow your own kitchen garden

There’s nothing more lovely than bringing into the kitchen herbs and veggies you grew yourself! And you don’t even need a huge garden to grow something from scratch: even a small balcony would do the trick, and if you don’t have one, you can still grow your kitchen herbs inside into small vases!

Basil, mint and parsley are my favourites to sow and look after since I know I will give them a whole lot of love when cooking and baking as well!

Hand-lettering for the garden

One thing I love is categorize and add labels on everything, but something I love even more is hand-lettering my labels! There’s nothing nicer than hand-lettered plants labels in my opinion! Give them a try: it’s fun and will make your garden cuter!

Press flowers

I remember being a little girl and hand-picking my favourite flowers from the garden, only to go inside and keep them safe pressed between the pages of diaries and books. There’s something beautiful into pressed flowers, and it’s something I bet will most likely remind you of your own childhood, and your moms explaining how to preserve flowers like precious memories. But besides taking a trip down memory lane, you can do a lot of things with pressed flowers, like your own custom prints to hang into beautiful frames on your wall, or phone cases or patterns for any purposes really!

Tidy & change things

If you’re after that classic Spring refreshing and renewal feeling but going outside it’s not in your plan, try tidying your house, or moving your furniture around or changing things up! I know, it sounds a boring Sunday plan, but with the time I’ve come to enjoy a bit of spring cleaning: nothing can beat the refreshed feeling you’ll be left with right afterward, and you’ll be ready to start the new week with a whole lot of positive energies!
