4 for Inspiration :: Autumn Soups

4forinspirationAutumnSoup

As much as summertime has been a good one this year, I can’t really express in words how excited I am for Autumn to be around! Now that the days are becoming chillier and shorter and the afternoons are being spent inside more often, I can already feel the new season being in the air, and even if Autumn isn’t officially started yet, I’m in the mood for seasonal changes. Don’t know about you but I’ve already got started with my new-season shopping, have already rearranged all my Pinterest boards (that are all looking quite autumnal now), have treated myself to new candles and am getting back into the habit of drinking tea every afternoon, but also into the mood to cook and bake more often. So here’s a selection of some very autumnal soup that are being super inspiring to me and which I can’t wait to try!

What about you? Anyone else excited for cozy-blankets-season? x

Caffeinated Summer Joys.

Caffeinated summer joys.

Caffeinated summer joys.

You’ll be aware of my love for coffee by now, but if there’s one thing I love more than a hot Italian cappuccino as first thing on a cold winter morning is iced American coffee on a super hot summer day spent wandering around a busy city. It has been a few months now that I’m on the hunt for beautiful, welcoming, pinterest-worthy coffee places and bakeries in Milan (I’m building quite a nice list of favourites!), and things usually start from me writing countless lists of places to try out after spending entire afternoons searching for suggestions, reviews and pictures on the internet, those lists go to lay in my handbag and usually come out when I’m near one of those places and want a suggestion on where to eat my lunch or drink my coffees.

But with 12oz Coffee Joint things went differently. I’ve not heard of it, or seen it on one of my usual day trip to Milan before (even if I walk by that particular spot quite often due to the presence of Muji right a few metres away), in fact I’m wondering when it did actually opened and launched, because it’s not really possible I haven’t located it before! We spotted it yesterday after lunch and made a promise to try it out one day or later in the afternoon if we were still around, but curiosity prevailed in the end and we found our way there to try a couple of their drinks…

I can’t really explain how lovely it felt to have a super cold drink after spending the day buying way too many cold water bottles and finishing them up too soon. I went for their Ice Breeze Caffé Choco and I wasn’t wrong: in its simplicity it was right up my street and totally what I needed! I surely want to come back and try out one (or two) of their Cold Ozy (flavoured coffee drinks topped with whipped cream and syrups) or their Fruit Ozy (100% fruit smoothies, with milk and topped with a mountain of whipped cream and sprinkles – which make the healthy bits of it a tiny bit less… healthy, but hey!). Their Tropical Smoothie though was a total healthy dream, made out of 100% fruit, you can pick two different tropical fruits from a long list, including açaì, mango, pineapple and more! Plus you can add milk, yogurt, soy milk or cinnamon/chocolate/hazelnut (etc.) syrups to all your coffees or smoothies, and they have 100% fruit juices too! Ah… that’s the best coffee (and smoothies) lover’s dream!

Not to mention I’ve spotted the most amazing variety of donuts, muffins and cookies and made a promise to myself I’d came back to try them all soon… and I can’t tell you how excited I’ll be about the cold season coming around just to try their coffee in a hot version (or their Hot Ozy, that sounds even more delicious than the cold ones..!).

I’M WEARING :: DRESS – ZARA (SIMILAR) ; SHOES – ASOS (SIMILAR) ; BAG – SIMILAR

Enough coffee rambles – I’m very sorry about it but I can’t help but highly suggest 12oz Coffee Joint if you’re around Milan these months – you also need to check that Zara denim dress out before it’s gone! It seriously resembles all I was looking into a summer dress and I’ve hunted it down by visiting four different Zara stores in four different cities to find it! Snap it up before it’s completely gone 😉

Have you already found your perfect coffee-lover-approved café of dreams? x

Two Fruit Smoothie Ideas

May 22nd  •  Posted in Food

Comes the warm weather and the fresher, juicer fruits and I’m all about smoothies. If in wintertime I can’t say no to a baking session to have cookies always done for an afternoon snack (you know you have a sweet tooth when chocolate becomes a daily basic), in spring and summertime I can easily switch to the healthier smoothie and actually be quite satisfied with my snack! It has been a couple of months that I’m getting into the habit of drinking a freshly mixed fruit smoothie in the early hours of my afternoons, and not only it is super fun to find new fruit combinations and experiment with creativity and colours, but it also makes for a great boost of energy to face the rest of the day!

Smoothies are all about creativity and personal taste, but we’ve come up with a couple of ideas that make for delicious and different smoothies that I can’t really *not* share with you! Hopefully, if you’ll ever get bored with your favourite smoothie combinations, these will be a great inspiration!

Serves 2 | Goji & Red Berries Smoothie
15 goji berries
170ml fresh water
A couple of handfuls of raspberries, blueberries and blackberries
A handful of strawberries

First off create the goji juice by throwing around 15 goji berries and 100ml of water in a blender. Blend well until all the berries are chopped and the water becomes light red. Using a small strainer, strain the goji juice over a glass to remove any harsh residues, then pour the juice into the blender and blend together with all the berries (which you previously rinsed very well) until smooth. Serve immediately or let it chill in the fridge and enjoy later (remember to give it a shake before serving if you pick the latter!).

This smoothie is rich and sweet, but also a great way to implement super healthy goji berries in your diet if you’re not a fan of snacking on them by their own!

Serves 2 | Banana, Mint & Lemon Smoothie
1 banana
170ml fresh water
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 or 3 leaves of mint

Pour the water, chopped banana, freshly squeezed lemon juice and mint leaves into a blender and blend well until smooth. Add a teaspoon of honey if you prefer your smoothies on the sweet side. Serve immediately or chill in the fridge for later!

This one is inspired to a smoothie I got on a hot day in Milan last month at VIVA (such a blessing after walking for a long hot day in a busy city!) and it’s fresh and delicious but totally different than your average fruit smoothie!
