The New Lush Duomo

November 5th  •  Posted in Beauty

Showing you around the new Lush Duomo boutique, opening today, Novemeber 5th 2016!

You know if there’s one big brand I love, that is Lush! I’ve been a lover of their natural beauty range for years now, my very first choice when it comes to all things skincare, haircare and bath *art*, of course; I’m also a true believer Lush should open more shops here in Italy, so, all that considered, you can imagine my excitement when it was first announced to me that they were opening a new shop in Milan… but not only that: it was going to be the biggest shop in Milan too!

I actually heard them saying, almost whispering, it’s technically the biggest Lush boutique in Europe, even bigger than Oxford Street! And it really is huge. The furniture and decor is actually inspired to Lush Oxford Street and is beautifully photogenic, if you ask me!

Said Lush Duomo shop is opening today, but I was lucky enough to see a preview of it a couple of days ago, so let me show you a bit around…

I’ll admit, there’s hardly any detail I could say was my least favourite, because I loved every inch of it! But if I have to mention one thing I loved more than everything, that was surely the use and amount of greenery involved: they have pretty vases of roses, rosemary, aloe vera, lavender (and more) dotted around the shop with the cutest labels explaining how they implement those ingredients in their products.

They have the biggest skincare area I’ve ever seen in a Lush boutique, and I’m talking really huge! I spent a good half and hour talking with the kindest girl about some of the most exciting products they stock, and we barely covered a quarter of the skincare area, so you can imagine!

They are also currently stocking some of the Oxford Street limited exclusive products, which is pretty awesome! Between these, only this weekend, they’re selling their exclusive Mouthwash Tabs, that I have had a chance to try already and that are amazing! And of course, they currently have the biggest amount of festive Christmas products, that always makes me very happy indeed!

And they are also having such a fun opening day with live music, workshops and events (read more here). Lush Duomo is opening today, November 5th, at 4pm! But if you can’t make it, I highly suggest giving it a visit whenever you’re in Milan – find it right behind the Duomo. 😉

Any other Lush lovers? x

In October I’ve Loved…

In October I've Loved...

In October I've Loved...

OK so, October has been the month of my first cold, of an endless hours spent in front of my laptop wanting to cry and without knowing where to begin with work, so I’m almost happy it’s finally over, but on the other hand it has been the month of mist and yellow leaves, roasted chestnuts almost every Sunday, countless cups of tea, the first coat and the first scarf, and in general the time I rediscovered my love for Autumn… and it’s sad to think one month of my favourite season has already gone by.

But there’s Christmas around the corner, so I’m not complaining! In the meanwhile here are my October favourites…

In October I've Loved...

. F O O D .

This has been the first month when the wheather outside was chilly enough to properly enjoy a cup of tea, and with that, I decided it was about time that I tried out some new flavours. Turns out, I did buy a new tea, still the notes are always the same! What can I say? I’m such a lover of lavender, chamomile and lemon balm – put them all into one single blend, add cute packagings like only Clipper can do, and I’m sold!

I love sweet teas and this Snore & Peace number is almost already perfect for me without the addition of extra sugar (but I’d still add one teaspoon just in case, you know!). It’s basically the perfect nighttime infusion, but I still do enjoy it in the afternoon too… so relaxing and calming in front of a huge pile of work, you know…

On a different note, in the last week of September and throughout all the month of October, I’ve been loving this coconut jam from Coconut Merchant (my trusty retailer of huge bottles of coconut oil, if you’re wondering). It’s made of 100% organic coconut and tastes quite a bit like coconut sugar (that is amazing to me!). I guess it’s a bit of a healthier alternative to processed-sugared jams or Nutella (although it does not taste like that at all) – and I love it on my toasts in the morning! Yes, I’ve already gone through two jars all by own…

I don’t know if it’s just me, but my makeup products seem to finish up all at the same time! And October was that time for me. While repurchasing some old favourites, I thought I’d give a new foundation a go this round…

I tried a sample of this Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation back in May and I loved the texture and the finish so much. The only thing I’m always a bit put off by is the price of high end foundations, but this month I decided to finally bite the bullet and buy it. I know I’m super late on the bandwagon, but I’d suggest this to anyone with oily skin wanting a nice and natural but not super matte look that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and last all day!

This is 100% a new favourite!

Talking of favourites, ahhh… I can’t explain how much I love my new Nike Juvenate Sneakers at words! I have been raving about them all time on social media!

You might remember I talked a bit about getting into exercising a little more and especially walking a lot more back in August: I have been after investing in a nice and comfy pair of sneakers ever since, looking in particular for some shoes I could actually also wear on a daily basis (so yes, I wanted them to be cute!). I had some pretty hard time, I can assure you, but then I found these in lilac on Zalando, super discounted, and in my size… that’s how you know it’s meant to be.

And they are indeed the most comfortable shoes to walk in – maybe not the best in the rain, but I actually never really go out for a walk when it rains, so..!

This month I was also able to finally fit into this Zara mom jeans I’ve been after for a while, and so I bought them after a quick happy dance in the changing room. Needless to say I’ve been wearing them non-stop from that very minute throughout the whole month… and I’ve also purchased that beauty of a H&M pastel scarf: so snuggly and cosy! You know I love my pastels!

But that’s about it for my October favourites!
Would love to know what you’ve loved this month! x

Budget Friendly Pampering Guide

My Three Steps Budget Friendly Pampering Guide

If there’s one thing I love, is getting pampered! And we all know that already, thanks to the endless list of how to pamper yourself‘ guides I’ve written for this blog… But let’s be honest: there’s a reason why we keep trying to recreate the perfect spa at home, and that is because the most of us can’t afford spa treatments, facials, massages and hairdresser touch-ups on a weekly basis.

So yes, today I’m sharing another pampering guide, yet again, but this time it’s for anyone who loves to treat her/himself but has an attention to her/his limited budget too. What if you could afford the random spa weekend a bit more often than you think? 😉

Recreate a DIY spa at home - Budget Friendly Pampering Guide

Your SPA at home

This is probably foregone and obvious, but I couldn’t do a budget friendly pampering guide without encouraging you to do it all at home. Because yes, if all you need is an evening for yourself, a hot bath, some relaxing music and some aromatherapy, that’s totally something that shouldn’t be expensive at all and that you can do yourself at home.

Of course this would still be quite far away from massages, saunas, muds and all that jazz, but I can assure you sometimes it’s just what we all need. You could buy yourself fancy bath salts or oils that, although might be a little pricy, will last you a really long while; and then maybe enjoy a face mask or two but only after having lit your favourite relaxing candle(s).

Find the best beauty deals on Groupon - Budget Friendly Pampering Guide
Get The Best Deals

I’ll be 100% honest here: I’ve used Groupon for a very very long while now, I’m talking a lot of years! I was originally introduced to it by my mum, who used (and still does) to find awesome deals for dinners out as well as the random travel plan super discounted but, most often, any beauty-related treatment at the best price! In fact, as I write this, she’s enjoying a relaxing weekend with thermal water, massages, saunas and all!

They have a whole category of Health, Beauty & Wellness Groupons, everything you could want for a good pampering session obviously included, but not only: they also sometimes have a selection of beauty items as well as some pretty interesting courses, and, when you’re very lucky, you can sneak in a good spa weekend deal as well as a shiny new haircut or hair colour for something like ten quid!

Any long term reader might remember our daytrip to the lake from last Summer – in that exact occasion we decided to spoil ourselves to 5 hours at Sirmione’s beautiful spa thanks to a great deal we found on Groupon, and, now that I think about it, I should plan another day just like that for the two of us only! As well as a proper haircut for yours truly… because it has been a while… ops!

Learn how to touch up and maintain your haircut, nails, feet after your beauty treatment - Budget Friendly Pampering Guide
Learn how to touch it up

But my top budget friendly pampering tip would be, once you’ve found your amazing deal on a beauty treatment, then learn how to touch it up and maintain it yourself! Maybe you decided to finally go for a new haircut: you could definitely learn how to trim that fringe a little as well as your ends, just so that they’ll stay into place and you don’t need to head to the hairdresser each week! The internet is so full of tutorials, isn’t it?!

That could be applied to anything: manicures, pedicures, waxing, insert your favourite (although I don’t know how waxing could be anyone’s favourite really..!). Make sure you know what you’re doing and start modestly and small: do not decide to chop your whole long hair into a bob overnight! You should consult or get the help of a professionist to start with, but maintaing your hair, nails, feet into place isn’t that difficult at all!

Would love to know how you pamper yourself on a budget and if you ever use Groupon too! x
