As much as I’d want to be as present as in other seasons on this blog, comes summertime and I always seem to find a tiny bit less time to type things down on here! It’s not that I’m planning to not updating this blog for a month or two, not at all!, it’s just that things are slowing down a tiny bit; I’m working quite hard at a few new projects and in the rest of my free time I’m being busy laying and sunbathing outside, enjoying every single ray of sunshine I can see, picking fresh and homegrown raspberries (this year we’re basically picking up a bigger quantity of what you can buy at the grocery store for a few too many pounds every morning. Smoothies and desserts are tasting quite better too!) and plums (the sweetest, juiciest little plums I’ve ever tasted) from the garden, putting said fruits to use in cakes and summer desserts, topping peaches with ice cream and really having a good time.
I’m finding happiness in the smaller things. Just think yesterday I’ve spent an entire hour with my pizza doughs, just kneading them out a bit more than usual and putting love into rolling out said doughs into the most delicious Saturday pizza I’ve ever made. And that made me very happy. That and the fact everyone noticed there was something different in it, something better.
Here are a few pictures from our latest summer days…
Hey May, where have you gone? I haven’t have enough time to even think about summer vacations that June is already here between us in a couple of days! I’ve been so immersed in projects and work and life issues that this year is seeming to pass by way too quickly to me. May has brought a little taste of summer weather which made me even more anxious about having zero plans for summertime yet, but I can’t deny it was lovely to feel the heat of the sun on my skin on a few occasions. All in all it could have been a better month, with my kitty being extremely ill all of a sudden and a few too many stressful days spent typing codes that didn’t work at my laptop, but seeing it now that it’s ending, things seem to be getting better!
Here are a couple of highlights from my month…
1 :: Games of Thrones. That time of the year we were all waiting for has finally come and I couldn’t have been more excited, if only time didn’t pass so quickly! I can’t believe season 5 is almost over already! Yet, I always find myself counting the days until a new episode – to me, GoT is that good! I’m also *very* excited that June is finally coming because of other TV series – OITNB anyone?!
2 :: Our afternoon smoothies. We’re getting into the habit to drink healthy and refreshing fruit smoothies in the afternoon, and it’s been a month or more that we haven’t missed a single day. It’s such an enjoyable and delicious healthy habit to get into! I’ve also shared a couple of favourite combinations here recently, if you’d like to take a peek!
3 :: Finally seeing an end to a long stressful work. This month I’ve worked mainly at re-building this blog on a new platform from scratch, and if it usually takes me a couple of weeks or a little less to put together a blog design, this one has took me an entire month of headaches! Yet, I’m so proud of how it turned out and happy I got the opportunity to learn something new that surely will come useful in more occasions in the upcoming future! Plus there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing the final result of something you’re working so hardly on for such a long time!
4 :: Getting to see the world outside once in a while. With the excuse I wanted to see an end to my work as soon as possible, I’ve spent way too many hours in front of my laptop this month, so much that when I got the occasion to go outside, I realized how much I missed the beauty of the world and its landscapes, the flowering bushes and the blue sky!
5 :: Seeing what once were small seeds becoming little plants! It’s so exciting and probably the best thing about springtime! I’ve planted mint, basil and parsley this year, with the intent to use their leaves in my meals at some point, and even though it was a long process, now both of them have grown quite a lot!

Let me know what has made your May a good one in the comments! x
It has been a year since the last time I decided to start afresh with this blog and I haven’t regretted the decision ever since! Deciding to start writing about what I truly love on here has been so lovely and opened my way towards some great opportunities. If you have landed on this page in the last couple of days you might have noticed that things have been changing (I apologize if you have seen error pages way too many times!).
I’ve written a post about why I liked to have a Blogger blog almost a year ago and I still believe Blogger is a great place to start, though at a certain point I started wanting more. I am a coding lover, as you might have noticed, and Blogger just didn’t make the cut for me and my blog anymore. I’ve come to the point to realize I want to take my blog serious, that I want this space to be more than a hobby to me, as well as my passion for web design to be more than a passion. I needed to have certainty in it, and Blogger wasn’t the right place to keep this thing going anymore. It all started one year ago, and maybe I wasn’t completely ready to make the big step, but now things have changed and it was quite about time to make the switch!
I’d never seen a WordPress admin panel before a month ago, but I wanted to take the challenge and start everything from scratch with the design, hence why I was able to keep my “signature” interface for this blog, by putting the theme together from zero to what it is now. It’s far from being perfect and I have a lot to learn, but I’ll take it as a new exciting adventure: I can’t wait to learn more! I’ve almost cried a few times, have had way too many headaches and couldn’t seen an end to it for too many times, but maybe it is why now I feel so satisfied and happy with the result.
I was finally able to put together an archive pagelike I wanted it to be (it has probably been the main challenge, being new to all the WordPress coding rules), to add a few new features to the design, make it easier for readers to browse through it and redesign what I didn’t love anymore about it.
It’s not only that, I have a few other news in store as well, but I’ll keep you hanging a bit more about them. If you want to be the first to know, don’t forget to sign up to Miel Café’s newsletter by filling up the form under this post or here! I hope you all like the new website and enjoy the new features of the blog design! x
Hello, I'm Giada, an Italy based life and personal style blogger and freelance web designer, coffee, loafers, satchels and tea lover. Welcome to my little cosy space!
It has been a very long while since the last time I sat here typing down a little life update for this blog! Or that I asked you what you’ve been up to lately. Apparently I’m not good with consistency when it comes to monthly blog series, so this year I decided I won’t keep…
We’re back, back to the usual, back to work, to homemade breakfasts, to the same desk and the same laptop, and August’s already come to an end. I can’t really believe how fast time runs when you’re having a well-deserved vacation, even more than the rest of the year, which is flying by so quickly…
Whoa! These last two months have flown by, literally! I feel like I need to try and explain where I have been these last few weeks and the reasons behind my absence, but all I can say is that work has been the main priority for most of June and July and I’ve decided to take…

Can you believe April is already over? It feels like yesterday that I was trying to sort out how to finish up my Easter chocolate and to who I should have given some of my chocolate gold bunnies as I had too many! Yet meanwhile Spring has officially sprung, shoes and clothes for the new…
I don’t know about you, but I’m super ready for April! As much as March has been a nice month (not extremely beautiful and with ups and downs as usual, but not too bad as well) and the weather has been getting lovely, I’ve stepped outside the house today and was welcomed by the most…
With this blog of mine and my little design business coming to one year of existence in less than a month, I’m so enthusiastic about how things turned out for both of them. I’ve been extremely busy designing blogs, headers, creating illustrations and coding templates this past months that either I can’t remember when I…
As much as January‘s been a tough month, I’ve tried and approached February in a slightly more positive way. I need the warmer weather to be here so badly, the winter blues’ve totally hit me recently and only on the odd warm spring-like days I totally felt renewed! I’m super excited for the new month…

January is definitely not one of my favourite months: with the whole going back to the usual routine, feeling you might have gained a few extra lbs during the Holiday that you need to fix, the grey and cold days, things can be a bit stressful and depressing. We were lucky to see a bit…
Hey there! Hope y’all have had a very lovely time these past few days! In my last catch up post I told you I was going to come back pretty soon with a new update about my Christmas: deciding where to stay on Christmas day was not so easy, but in the end I spent Christmas eve…

Last Thursday we had a busy but lovely day in Milan to attend the grand opening of the H&M’s Italian flagship store in the Duomo area, which meant we have waited a good hour standing in the cold and watching a big red countdown screen. Luckily the weather was pretty nice, but even though the…
{ 1 ; 2 ; 3 ; 4 } a very autumnal update ; For the ones of you who follow me on Pinterest already it’s not a big news I’m feeling very autumnal recently and this change of weather is influencing my mood completely. I love this season, the cozy clothes and blankets, warm nights in, the infinite number of cups of tea…
