Top 10 Natural Beauty Products

My Top 10 Natural Beauty Products

You’ll know by now how I switched to using mainly natural beauty products since a couple of years now. Whilst I found it difficult to discover some nice gems that were completely natural and organic in the beginning, with the years I’ve become enthusiast of seeking and testing new natural products and by now I’ve built a nice collection of favourites!

Today I’m sharing my top 10, hoping to inspire anyone who has just started using natural beauty products: including mainly skincare, but also some hair and candle gems thrown in for good measure…

Relaxing bedtime all natural beauty products

What I love the most about organic and natural beauty product are the earthy floral scents they’re usually available in. I’m so done with all the chemical scents I was so obsesses with years ago, and now always prefer anything that smells floral and 100% natural.

Lush deserves a whole category for itself actually, I’m in love with a huge variety of products from their range, and if you read this blog you know I always rave about their solid shampoos especially. One skincare product I’m obsessed with at the moment is their Sleepy body lotion (unfortunately a limited edition) with its calming and relaxing lavender scent. But definitely check out their entire range, because they have an option for anyone!

Another brand I’m loyal to from quite a while is surely L’Occitane, always the best for hand creams: their ingredient lists are always mainly organic and natural and their products have the best scents and formulas.

I have always struggled with finding a natural deodorant that actually worked, but not being able to use anything that’s not organic on my sensitive armpits, I’m always in the quest. Last Summer I discovered this Salt Of Heart natural deodorant and I haven’t felt the need to lookout for a different option ever since. I can’t suggest using Potassium Alum as deodorant strongly enough to anyone suffering with very sensitive skin, the best all-natural option out there!

My favourite skincare natural beauty products
A few of my favourite skincare natural beauty products: face cleansers and masks

My skincare regimen is as simple as it could be, really. The one main product I use religiously is face cleanser though, and I’m such a fan of the Lavera range and especially of their Basis Sensitive Cleansing Gel. Natural beauty products can be expensive but Lavera always have the best quality for decent prices!

A cleanser I’ve been in love with recently is the Neal’s Yard Rose Facial Wash, extremely gentle, perfect for all types of skins and smelling so nice and relaxing! But I’m also a huge fan of MOA‘s skincare range and their The Green Balm cleanser in particular: their product are 100% organic and totally worth investing in!

Another huge favourite is my beloved Antipodes Aura Face Mask, usually the only face mask I use or carry with me. This is such a great all-rounder for any type of skins, treating dehydration but also being anti-bacterical, great for refreshing dull skin and making it look glowy after a busy week.

Hair, lips and candle natural beauty products

As for lip balms I couldn’t go one single day without my Nuxe Reve De Miel and you’ll probably be tired of me singing the praises of this product, but it’s really the only lip balm I use and there’s nothing better especially in the Winter months.

Haircare is the first category of products I started going completely natural with, and I’ve been avoiding any products with parabens and silicons since 3 long years now. Finding the perfect shampoo for my hair wasn’t an easy task! I love Lush’s solid shampoos and I usually alternate them with a Garnier option from their Ultimate Blends range (which don’t contain any parabens and are usually almost completely natural).

Lastly, I thought I’d mention Bomb Cosmetics and their amazing candles: they also do bath products, fragrances and soaps and all their products are natural and handmade, but their candles are just the cutest and come in the best scents!

And that’s it, a quick roundup of 10 of my favourite natural beauty products!
Would love to hear about *your* favourites as well! x

My Very Basic Skincare Routine

My Very Basic Skincare Kit

It has been several years now that I’m suffering with eczema, which is what has brought me to a very simple and basic skincare in the first place. I have tried so many skincare products in the years that I’ve lost count of how many disappointed me at treating my dry itchy areas, until I decided to try and avoid most of them: no more fancy face oils, eye creams, thick moisturizers, nothing! Only natural, organic products or something I know doesn’t irritate my skin at all.

Now I’ve been eczema-free (my face only though) for a while and touch wood it’ll stay like this in the future! I am basically very afraid of trying out new beauty products in general not knowing what caused it in a first place, but honestly I’ve found a very nice balance in the set I’ve been putting together for my skincare, that I can hardly think I’ll ever change something about it at all!

So today I thought I’d share a few of the products I’ve been using since a while and that are working wonders on my oily, extremely sensitive skin! I know how difficult it can be for anyone having problematic skin to find some beauty products that work, so hopefully this can come some sorts of helpful to anyway in a similar situation to mine!

My Basic Skincare Routine including Lavera Basis Sensitive Cleansing Gel and Garnier Micellar Water
Cleansers

I’ve loved the fancy cleansing balm or two in the past, but I’ve realized those were not what my oily skin really needed if not very randomly a couple of times a year, I’d say! So I decided to give Lavera products a go, and, with the promise of a fully organic ingredients list, I was sold!

I firstly tried their 3 In 1 Wash Scrub Mask which I loved quite a lot for treating oiliness and leaving my skin feeling fresh and smooth, but I came to a point where I wanted something more gentle for my daily cleansing routine. And so I got their Basis Sensitive Cleansing Gel, with organic mallow, promising to soothe and gently cleanse your skin, which is exactly what it does!

Not only that: it also smells like a spa treatment, so nice and relaxing, and leaves my skin fresh and clean without being aggressive!

I’d use the Lavera cleaser both in the morning and in the evening or anytime I feel like I need a refresh (post workout essential!) and pair it with my trusted Garnier Micellar Water only if I’ve worn makeup that day and need something to remove my mascara that doesn’t irritate my eye area!

My Basic Skincare Routine included La Roche Posay Effaclair Duo and Antipodes Aura Mask

Treatments

That’s basically it for my day-to-day skincare, I told you it was very minimal! And then I only have a couple of options for treatments that I’d use only if very necessary, to treat blemishes or dryness.

I’ve been using the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo for years now, gone through a million tubes I’d say, and I’m still such a lover of it! I don’t know how my skin hasn’t got used to it just yet, but I really believe this is the only blemish treatment that does work! I don’t use it every day and night just because I don’t love the fact that I’m constantly exfoliating my skin and then exposing it to the world outdoor, but if I have a very oily-week or some blemishes that threaten to appear, I would surely do three or four days of treatment with this one and all my skin issues would be gone!

I rarely use face masks anymore if not for the random Lush fresh mask lingering in my fridge from time to time or this Antipodes Aura Mask, that has been my favourite for years now! It is all natural and very gentle, featuring manuka honey that has lots of anti-bacterical properties but also deeply hydrates the skin, making this mask the perfect all-rounder! And it smells amazing, of vanilla and mandarin, which makes those two/three times a month such a treat!

My Basic Skincare Routine includes my beloved Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm

Lip Balm

Lastly but surely not at least!, the lip balm of dreams! You know I love my Nuxe Reve De Miel more than anything, the only lip balm actually working for me, really. I struggle with getting along with any other lip balm or treatment since I have tried this, so I guess I’ll just pray they’ll keep doing it forever because I can’t really stay without! I have one in my bag, one at home, one at my boyfriend place… it’s a life saver, always!

That’s basically it! I told you it was a very minimal and basic skincare routine!
Would love to know if you have any sensitive-skin faves to suggest! x

My Weekend Pampering Routine

My Weekend Pampering Routine

I always begin these “pampering routine” posts like this, but I really am not one that loves to just sit there with face masks on for a couple of hours and do absolutely nothing. Or just feel like I’m wasting my time. That’s why I hardly really find time to pamper myself at all most of the times, however lately, after feeling way too constricted by working 24/7 for weeks, I decided I’d reserve my Saturday mornings to myself and nothing else.

I would take my time to do the breakfast I fancy, and not on a rush as I’d usual do, then shower and put a nice but quick face mask on, keep on top of my body hairs and eyebrows (especially) duties and then remember myself of popping some nail polish I like on my nail and maybe also to not be as lazy and apply a nicely scented body butter all over – because I know I like how my skin smells and feels right afterwards!

Recently my skin is not having the best time, with the heat always leaving it a sweaty oily mess and the temperature leaps causing bad breakouts all the time. On my face I’ve been loving my old favourite Antipodes Aura Mask, a 100% naural all-in-one mask I love for treating blemishes and breakouts thanks to the antibacterial properties of the Manuka honey, but also for re-hydrating my skin without leaving it oily or greasy by any means. And its scent is a combination of mandarin and vanilla, and it’s probably not possible to describe at words how nice and relaxing it is!

In the meanwhile I leave on my face mask, I’ve been loving to treat myself to a mini manicure! It might sound extreme, but I very rarely take some time to properly fix my nails and put some nail polish on, so this is a big deal for me! As for nail polishes, I love anything that stays on for 4-6 days without needing any touch-ups as I rarely can be bothered with re-painting my nails in the middle of the week. The L’Oreal Color Riche Nail Polishes are something I would totally recommend for their amazingly opaque and long-lasting formula (the two shades in picture are Parisian Rooftops and You are worth it and they are both amazing!).

A product that won’t ever be missed in my pampering routine, whether it’s in the evening or in the morning, is the L’Occitane Relaxing Pillow Mist, which I actually use more as a proper room spray everynight but also whenever I fancy switching off and recreating a relaxing atmosphere in my room. It smells like lavender fields with a touch of sweet orange and bergamot – it’s just the most calming scent ever.

And lastly, the body butter I would usually pick is the Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Souffle Body Creme, that smells and feels as fancy as it sounds once massaged into the skin! I’m a lover of sweet scents and there’s really nothing that can beat smelling like a creme brulee for a couple of days (yes, it lasts that long) to me! I’m usually that lazy that I would skip the body moisturizer step, but I actually deeply love taking some time to apply this one on my legs and arms.

And that’s basically it, my short and sweet weekend pampering routine! Hopefully this will find any of you who feels a bit down recently and inspire you to treat yourself this weekend!

How do you get along with finding time to pamper yourself? x
