Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide: The Homebound

November 24th  •  Posted in Lifestyle

In this third episode of my Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide I'm covering some cosy and warm gift ideas for the "homebound" or lounge lover!

In this third episode of my Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide I'm covering some cosy and warm gift ideas for the "homebound" or lounge lover!

For this third episode of my Unconventional Christmas Gift Guides series, I’m covering all things cosy and warm that any lounge lover or “homebound” in your life will definitely love! It’s a nice selection of natural beauty and aromatherapy, cosy loungewear and mugs and unique homeware and jewellery anyone who loves spending time at home will surely appreciate!

01. Ladies Lounge Socks ℅ Heat Holders
So let’s talk these magical socks, shall we?! They are made from a heavy bulk yarn that has extreme thermal properties and that has been brushed to be soft and trap warm air close to the skin. These are the softest warmest socks I have ever worn and I bet anyone suffering with cold feet will thank you a whole lot for getting them a pair.

02. L’Occitane Relaxing Pillow Mist & Cherry Blossom Hand Cream
Any “homebound” who loves natural beauty and at-home-pampering will surely appreciate a little L’Occitane set! They always stock a lot of premade gift sets, but you could also create your own to give your friend a selection of your favourite items. For me, no doubt, they’d be my beloved Relaxing Pillow Mist & Cherry Blossom Hand Cream – both great skincare and aromatherapy products.

03. Frank Body Coffee Scrub Kit
I have shared the love for Frank Body scrubs in the past already a couple of times and I can’t help but think anyone should be introduced to them once in their lifetime! These are all-natural parabens-free coffee scrubs, great for all those sensitive skins out there, and, again, for anyone who loves a little home-based pampering session. They come in a bunch of different scents (my favourite being the Cacao option!) and they are very messy indeed, but so exfolianting and fun at the same time!

04. Button Necklace ℅ Theodora Gould
As soon as Theodora introduced me to her Button Necklace, I fell deeply in love with it! Not only I have always loved button-shaped jewellery, but her beautiful hand-crafted pieces all have a unique story behind them. Theodora Gould jewellery is inspired by vintage designs, history, nature but especially country living. Whether your “homebound” is a fashion lover or not (when it’s not in her loungewear, of course!), she will surely love wrapping something that so deeply remember of home and childhood, with such a simple delicate design, around her neck.

05. Garden Collage Homeware*
I bet any homebound would love to receive a couple of pieces from the beautiful Garden Collage homeware collection. Founded by Daisy Helman in 2015, Garden Collage is a fresh new online magazine covering stories about gardens, environmental innovation, plant-based beauty products and the charm of gardening in our modern world. They run a gardening, beauty and homeware shop alongside the magazine, and there they sell unique hand-picked brands that will be pretty appreciated by anyone with a taste for aesthetic in their homes!

06. Chelsea Peers Soft Peachy PJ Set
Of course any lounge lovers will be enthusiatic to unwrap some new soft PJ to add to their collection! This Chelsea Peers number is extremely cute in its peachy pink tone, but it’s also the softest PJ set I’ve ever worn (and I’ve worn a lot!). They have a shorts version as well, so you can’t really go wrong with this one!

07. BauHaus Mama Mug ℅ Anya Fennet
Whenever I find a mug underneath the Christmas tree, I’m just the happiest! I love mugs so much, that you’ll understand my excitement about a handmade wheel-thrown mug that looks this adorable and unique! Ania runs an interior design company and has just launched her BauHaus collection with cosy handmade clay pieces that will surely warm the heart of any tea/coffee drinker in your life!

That’s it for today’s Christmas Gift Guide! Make sure you come back every other day for more gifts and you didn’t miss any so far! Also, stay tuned until the very end for an exciting surprise (hint: it includes a gift… for you!).

Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide: The Crafter

November 22nd  •  Posted in Lifestyle

Second episode of my Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide, covering interesting and unique gift ideas for any crafters and creatives

Second episode in my Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide, covering gift ideas for any crafter and creatives

Being such a lover of crafts and homemade myself, buying gifts for any crafty friend is one of the things I love the most around Christmas time! This is why today’s Unconventional Christmas Gift Guides episode felt so spontaneous to put together and it’s one between my favourites out of them all!

Today’s Christmas gift guide is a selection of items any creatives will adore, including DIY kits, paper and stationery gems, and handmade items from small independent businesses a crafter can’t *not* appreciate!

01. Wool & The Gang Knitting Kit
I was recently introduced to Wool & The Gang thanks to Instagram and everyone starting to knit because of it, but it is such an interesting brand really! They provide yarn, patterns and supplies to properly get into knitting, whether you’re a pro or you’re just getting started. This kit contains all the basic necessary for any new knitter as well as their Zion Lion Pom Hat pattern to get started. I especially love the pink option, but they have a lot of different colours (as well as patterns) to pick from – and they also sell ready made knitwear if your gift recipient is lazy instead!

02. Christian Lacroix Journal + Desk BoxGarden Collage
Chances are your creative or crafter is a lover of stationery and paper too! If you plan on spoiling her this year, Christian Lacroix does some pretty incredible notebooks and diaries, that, as a stationery lover myself, I bet would make for a well-welcomed luxurious gift for anyone who loves to take notes! Pair it with one (or all) of their Desk Boxes and you’ll get the perfect dream gift for any stationery lover.

03. Petite Mila Rosy Trousse + Pentel Aquash Watercolor Pens
Calligraphy and brush lettering are big trends this last couple of years, and if your crafter is someone who’s getting started or is a pro already, she will surely love a nice selection of calligraphy tools or these watercolor pens for a change!

Also, you might remember Petite Mila from my Etsy Favourite Finds series; well, she has just released a whole new collection of handmade organic cotton pouches with the cutest patterns ever. Make sure you check her Etsy shop out because her products always impress when given as gifts, whether or not paired with pens really!

04. Miel Café Design x Casetify Lemonade Phone Case
I hope you won’t mind a tiny bit of self promotion, do you?! Because not only this phone case features my own design (I have a whole collection here if you fancy a peek), but I’m very partial to Casetify’s phone cases just in general. So far they’re the best I have ever tried, very solid, protection is amazing and apparently you can drop your phone as much as you like with them on (although I’m not very keen in testing if it’s true), and their New Standard cases come with interchangeable backplates so that you don’t have to invest in a new case everytime you fancy a new pattern/design!

05. Deer Zoofold Animal Hat ℅ Zoofold
I was recently introduced to Zoofold and I’ve immediately thought they’d make for such an interesting and different gift idea, especially for crafters and creatives! They are eco-friendly folding animal masks/hats that will involve a bit of DIY when putting them together as well as a lot of fun wearing or styling your room with them (yes, you can get some use out of them as designer wall art as well!). Thought for parties and festivals especially, they come in a lot of different interesting shapes and are hand-designed by lovely architect India Aspin!

06. Watercolor Wishes Card Kit ℅ Stampin’ Up!
I have talked about this DIY card kit already in the past and I’m still a huge fan. This kit comes with all the necessary tools to create custom-made greeting cards, including stickers, paper, envelopes, stamps and everything in between! But at Stampin’ Up! they have a whole lot of different kits and products all worth checking out!

That concludes today’s Christmas Gift Guide! Don’t forget to come back every other day for more guides and make sure you check the tag to see them all. Remember, there’ll be an amazing surprise at the end!

Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide: The Sporty

November 20th  •  Posted in Lifestyle

First episode of 2016 Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide, with five thoughtful gift ideas for the sport lover in your life.

Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide
Unconventional Christmas Gift Guide 2016: Gifts for the sport lover

Ah, christmas gift guides! In the past I’ve tried a whole lot of different formats, but this year I wanted to create something a bit more ‘me’ and personal, sharing a selection of unconventional gift ideas, that will include, between the rest, lots of handmade items from small independent businesses I am lucky to partner with (because we gotta support freelancers this time of the year especially!). But between those, there’ll also be ideas for different but thoughtful gifts, and each guide will feature options for any budget!

Instead of focusing only on the gender or the relationship one might have with the recipient of the gift, I thought it might be handier to subdivide my guides into categories this time… because yes, chances are the people in your life will somehow fit into at least one of the categories I’m going to share gift ideas for! This year my gift guide will actually be an entire blog series walking us towards Advent, because it’ll be December 1st when these posts will be over – perfect time to start shopping! Make sure you come back every other day for a different guide each time and you stay tuned until the end for a little surprise!

So for day 1, let’s start with the sporty! This is a little selection of gifts any sport lover, or anyone who is getting started with a new fitness routine, would be pretty excited to get…

01. Nike Juvenate Sneakers
… or any pair of sneakers really! A runner especially, doesn’t ever have enough sneakers in her life: did you know you’re supposed to throw your shoes in the bin after 0.9-1k kilometres? That seems a lot but it really isn’t if you think about it, so a pair of extra sneaker can be handy even if you know for sure your sporty has a little collection already. You know I love my Nike Juvenate Sneakers, I talk about them all the time – but this sneakers are not only the softest and comfiest to walk in, but are also aestethically pretty making them the perfect everyday option too!

02. H&M Soft Bra (Similar)
Whatever the sport in question is, a nice sport bra will always end up being well-loved, you can be 100% sure about that! There are options for any budget out there really, but this can also be quite an inexpensive but much-appreciated gift idea, for that sporty friend or collegue, if you have a limited budget. H&M has some pretty lovely options, totally worth checking them out!

03. Jawbone Up Move Fitness Tracker
I have talked about this little gadget in details recently already, but I love it that much that I couldn’t help but add it to the list! This fitness tracker helps you keep track of the steps you do in your days, as well as the hours of sleep and the quantity of calories you’re eating, and you can bet any fitness lover (or even anyone new to fitness but wanting to get started) will be enthusiastic about it!

04. Teatox Set ℅ Teagime
If you’re looking for something a bit more personal and totally unique for your health lover, you definitely want to introduce her to Teagime: they create customized teatox programmes and sets based on some information about the recipient (so you should know your friend quite nicely for this one!), providing three different tea blends, morning, afternoon and night, to target specific health goals with 100% natural and gentle ingredients. You can read more about my experience over here if you’re curious!

05. Adidas Performer ClimaLite Leggings
Lastly but not at least, of course any sport lover will adore to get some new nice-quality fitness gear! I can’t suggest the Adidas ClimaLite Leggings enough really – especially great for walking, running and yoga in my opinion. They’re the most comfortable I’ve ever tried and I love the ClimaLite technology so much!
