Caffeinated Summer Joys.

Caffeinated summer joys.

Caffeinated summer joys.

Caffeinated summer joys.

You’ll be aware of my love for coffee by now, but if there’s one thing I love more than a hot Italian cappuccino as first thing on a cold winter morning is iced American coffee on a super hot summer day spent wandering around a busy city. It has been a few months now that I’m on the hunt for beautiful, welcoming, pinterest-worthy coffee places and bakeries in Milan (I’m building quite a nice list of favourites!), and things usually start from me writing countless lists of places to try out after spending entire afternoons searching for suggestions, reviews and pictures on the internet, those lists go to lay in my handbag and usually come out when I’m near one of those places and want a suggestion on where to eat my lunch or drink my coffees.

But with 12oz Coffee Joint things went differently. I’ve not heard of it, or seen it on one of my usual day trip to Milan before (even if I walk by that particular spot quite often due to the presence of Muji right a few metres away), in fact I’m wondering when it did actually opened and launched, because it’s not really possible I haven’t located it before! We spotted it yesterday after lunch and made a promise to try it out one day or later in the afternoon if we were still around, but curiosity prevailed in the end and we found our way there to try a couple of their drinks…

I can’t really explain how lovely it felt to have a super cold drink after spending the day buying way too many cold water bottles and finishing them up too soon. I went for their Ice Breeze Caffé Choco and I wasn’t wrong: in its simplicity it was right up my street and totally what I needed! I surely want to come back and try out one (or two) of their Cold Ozy (flavoured coffee drinks topped with whipped cream and syrups) or their Fruit Ozy (100% fruit smoothies, with milk and topped with a mountain of whipped cream and sprinkles – which make the healthy bits of it a tiny bit less… healthy, but hey!). Their Tropical Smoothie though was a total healthy dream, made out of 100% fruit, you can pick two different tropical fruits from a long list, including açaì, mango, pineapple and more! Plus you can add milk, yogurt, soy milk or cinnamon/chocolate/hazelnut (etc.) syrups to all your coffees or smoothies, and they have 100% fruit juices too! Ah… that’s the best coffee (and smoothies) lover’s dream!

Not to mention I’ve spotted the most amazing variety of donuts, muffins and cookies and made a promise to myself I’d came back to try them all soon… and I can’t tell you how excited I’ll be about the cold season coming around just to try their coffee in a hot version (or their Hot Ozy, that sounds even more delicious than the cold ones..!).

Enough coffee rambles – I’m very sorry about it but I can’t help but highly suggest 12oz Coffee Joint if you’re around Milan these months – you also need to check that Zara denim dress out before it’s gone! It seriously resembles all I was looking into a summer dress and I’ve hunted it down by visiting four different Zara stores in four different cities to find it! Snap it up before it’s completely gone 😉

How can’t you love the time of the year when you’re able to spot kilometers of beautiful yellow fields and the sky is that clear and blue that you can even see the mountains in the distance? Not to mention the refreshing beauty of the not too cold not too hot weather that fills the air with a light warm breeze and pink petals that fall everywhere from the trees? I’ve been realizing how much the seasons and the weather influence my life and mood – I can’t help but be as positive as ever this time of the year, no matter what!

A week ago we started spotting a bunch of golden fields of flowers, one better than the other, so much that it was kind of hard to pick one to shoot this pictures! The wind was light and warm and the bees were buzzing around; I’d have gladly spent the entire afternoon laying where the flowers were shorter, with gold petals accidentally adorning my hair, watching bees and butterflies passing by…

Our Favourite Spring Weekend Activity.

April 1st  •  Posted in Lifestyle

Our favourite springtime activity.

If there’s a season I love, it must be Spring. With its colours, pink blossoms everywhere, the warmer but still fresh air, longer days and brighter sunlight (and the list could go on and on – read here for more!), there’s no need to wonder how it’s able to boost positivity and sweep ‘meh days’ away. Recently I’ve been introduced to the art of having a different active weekend, instead of staying at home and enjoying solitude (otherwise known as what-I-do-in-wintertime-all-the-time) which only lead to checking the tech way too much and maybe going back to work earlier forgetting that the weekend should be relax and disconnecting, instead of working and working.

Simply stepping outside, especially if the sun is up and the weather is lovely, to see the world, or just your backyard, and spend the day with someone you love, disconnecting from your to-do lists, totally makes the difference! I can see how starting the week in a relaxed mood can improve my same work and productivity. And sometimes you don’t even need to plan something fancy ahead, positivity can be found in the simplest of things too.

One of our favourite weekend activity in springtime is surely visiting nurseries (you might have read last week’s post about it!). There is something special about plants and buds all together blooming to beautiful colourful flowers and fruits at the same time, and what better place to see the magic happening if not somewhere where plants and flowers are all gathered up in a few square meters?

After visiting a lot of gardens and nurseries, I’d say I’m a fan of both big ones, ones than are extended to homeware stores and especially ones where to also shop candles and organic food, but also smaller ones, almost vintage-y, where time seems to have been stopped in the nineties and everything still looks very classical and old school. And as much as I love going back and visiting my favourite nurseries all over again, I’m surely a big fan of exploring new ones!

This is in fact how our latest weekend was spent. We visited a new place highly suggested by my mum, that immediately made on top of my list of favourite places where to spend a slow Sunday afternoon! We spent an endless amount of time there, wandering between the shabby chic homeware pieces (most of which I’d gladly have brought home with me!), admiring the Easter themed decorations, little chocolate eggs and colourful ceramic animals, before immersing ourselves into the most beautiful and huge amount of greenery outside.

I mainly go there to learn new plants and flowers names and dream of a time when we’ll have our own garden and I’ll be allowed to plant and see my kitchen garden growing up and coming together nicely!

I’m wearing…
Top – Zara ; Jeans – Topshop ; Coat ℅ Sheinside ; Shoes – H&M ; Bag – ASOS (Similar) .

* I’m completely in love with this new pastel coat of mine by Sheinside, it’s just perfectly floaty and lightweight (a springtime must-have!) and looks very vintage-y at the same time! Plus I’m in love with the colour! *

Then I spotted the candles section and went crazy in there with smelling and testing all the spring and flowers flavoured Yankee Candles I was able to, until my nose struggled to identify the scents for the too large amount of smells I exposed it to – coming out with a new favourite as well, Lovely Kiku, whose mix of sweetness, warmness of vanilla and floral hints of cherry blossom and chrysanthemum is practically what I imagine Spring to smell like in a candle!

The tour was concluded with a little stop to the organic foods boutique at the end, where unusual, oriental and healthy foods were all gathered up, with a big selection of sweets and teas too. Talking of teas, I’ve gladly found my new trusty stockist of Clipper Teas (which are not that common around here) – and yes, I’ve stocked up on my favourite Green Tea with Echinacea!
